Ruby Meyer & Melissa Nelson

For over 40 years Ruby Meyer (deceased) created art with paper mache. It all began when a son needed a visual for a 4-H beef project talk. Ruby created a paper mache steer for the presentation. Soon this creative endeavor evolved into full sized figures of the family, a Christmas nativity, and she even created her own mother as she remembered her sitting peeling apples in her kitchen. Ruby remarked, "It's just paper people, I don't call it an art form."

The daughter, Melissa Nelson joined her mother in creating paper mache figures after she was an adult. Both women were perfectionists and their work expresses a wonderful sense of humor.
