James Penquite

James Penquite (deceased) was a 19th-century man trapped in a 21st century world. Penquite searched auctions and farm sales for piles of junk and spare parts, then waited for artistic inspiration to strike. Jim created his yard environment full of birdhouses on his rural farm in north central Kansas.

His passions were reading, writing, and art. He spent much of his life drawing for enjoyment and loved to write letters and even created his own one-of-kind envelopes. With a twinkle in his eye, Penquite said, "I'm a little off-center, I've never been like anyone else." Much of his yard environment depicts the influence of an Army veteran who was stationed for two years living and working in Thailand.
